is injured and another man has serious injuries. the chp just told us told us two construction worker were working on the shoulder they were hit by a silver knee son. what they were doing is moving one of those road work ahead signs. the gentleman that passed away he was pinned against his own work truck. he is also a contacted worker. the driver of that silver nissan is at the hospital. he is suffering from life threatening injuries. again lots of emergency vehicles here. we are told the two workers were out here to work on emergency repair. there was a dip in the roadway they were working on. i want to go to officer ryan with the chp. how is this effecting traffic? >> we have two of the three lanes closed right now. we are trying to keep the traffic flowing but we do need to preserve our scene. >> how long will it stay like this? >> my estimations are probably an hour and a half. >> reporter: have you talked to some of the other construction workers for that contractor? i believe they started arriving on scene. how are they doing? >> they are pretty shook up. there is a lot of risk invol

clear here. temperatures will be on the mild side. the low is if you are watching us down in los angeles just kind skirting in with light rain. we have clear skies. san francisco sitting at 50. so it will be a cooler morning or a colder morning. and temperatures today will rebound pretty fast. san francisco's forecast we will go for a high. everything is kind of clearing out pretty rapidly. that means temperatures once they get going even though the nights are pretty long here it will be pretty good. the low did what it did. went parallel to the coast and now it will retro grade. if you are heading that direction, probably more clouds than any rain. sunny and nice for us after a cold or chilly morning. it is a quiet pattern until next week. highs today 60s for almost everybody. a few upper 60s to near 70. here is sal. >>> all right, steve good morning. the chp is investigating a deadly crash on the east bay freeway. it happened around 12:40 this morning. a driver got out of his car after crashing it into the center divider. another car struck and killed him when he left the crash

on interstate 880 and panola. claudine wong just got to the scene and tells us what is going on out there, claudine wong? >> reporter: let me take you to what is happening, this is 880 in the westbound direction and from what we can tell you there was an accident and nobody was hurt fortunately but there is a big mess out here. this big-rig was coming down and actually hit this vehicle. keep in mind it was an abandoned vehicle which means nobody was in it and that's the good news because the vehicle is a mess. we want to take you up the freeway so we are walking along the freeway, there is a driver of that big-rig, he told them that somebody cut him off and they are trying to confirm that but you can see the end result as we walk up interstate 880, his big-rig went right up this hill and ended up on its side. right now they are trying to figure out how to get it down and he was carrying some frozen food and take a look at this, an unbelievable picture of his big-rig on its side all the way up the embankment and just basically flipped over. again, the drivers you saw, as you pass by him, h

computer problems still causing problems this morning. tara moriarty is joining us now from oakland. hundreds of passengers stranded on trains last night, tara. >> reporter: that is right. the trains were supposed to resume at 4:00 this morning. that didn't happen. according to bart officials they would like to get things up and running in a half hour. they say the problem is technical. this is due to a computer glitch. the computer systems and central control are not communicating properly with the track. they are having to manually crank the shifts to route the trains. this effected 19 trains with 500-1,000 people on board. passengers were not happy. >> i have to pay for a cab to get back to oakland right now. the difference is $3.50 on bart or $35 to get in a cab. that is what i'm doing right now. it sucks. >> reporter: stations will be open but the train is not running. you may see some trains running but bart says it is simply putting them into place staging them. bart says this is an unusual situation but you can arrive at any station and camp out top wait. we are supposed to

is getting ready as well. he joins us live and begins our team coverage on storm watch? sonoma county. >> reporter: we're up here in northern park off 101 this morning, not much coming down as we speak. you can see if you look here across the parking lot, the ground is kind of wet here, and so clearly we had a cell that just moved through this area not that long ago. the road's slightly wet this morning, and of course that means you want to take it easy out there as you head out to work this morning. this will be the first significant rain in about two months here in the pay area, and we're expecting -- bay area and we're expecting maybe a half inch or so over the next couple of days. it is badly needed. they're hoping for a wet winter to ensure there doesn't have to be rationing next year. water agencies are ready for the rainfall. this past year has been a dry one. it was one of the driest calendar year on record in the bay area. although meteorologists measure rain from july to july and by that standard things don't look good. >> our rainfall year started july 1st. we've had just a

business. katie spoke to firefighters within the last hour and tells us what they have to say, katie? >> reporter: the smell of that smoke is still strong and can be smelled as far north as oakland and san francisco. you can still smell the smoke and they are still spraying water on it at this point. here is what it looked like yesterday evening. a dark cloud as you can see in this video. firefighters say the fire started yesterday afternoon at a conveyer system where metal cutting can often throw sparks but they may never know the cause. but it is deep in a debris area and forensics had to be brought in for the source. >> they are moving the material and you can't push it over like a sand castle. you have to symptomatically move it with the safety of everybody around them. >> the smell is permeating a much further distance and crews contained the fire last night and the shelter in place warning may be lifted within a couple of hours and we are still working to determine just how knock shows horrible that smoke plume was. >>> noon noon earlier -- typhoon haiyan, earlier it hit vietna
